  43. Okay...I should be a little more careful with my words, in this group.
  44. I am hoping to build a trasmitter to broadcast on the radio
  45. spectrum, known to laymen as "AM Radio"
  46. in contrast to "FM Radio" --- In the portion of the radio wave
  47. spectrum between 550 KHz and 1600 KHz...I chose AM because I am under
  48. the impression that Amplitude Modulation is a bit easier to pull off than
  49. Frequency Modulation....and currently, I have only an AM radio in my car...
  50. My final goal is to solve the following problem:
  51. Of the three cars my family owns, one only has an AM radio, one has FM/AM,
  52. and one has a tape deck and FM/AM....
  53. I would like to listen to my favorite CD, my favorite tape, or my favorite
  54. FM or AM station in any of the above mentioned vehicles....

  56. I was impressed with the CD-to-tape invention which is now on the market
  57. from Radio Shack, and many other electronics store...(A fake-tape goes in your
  58. tape deck and produces the signals taken from the CD player)

  60. ....but then, I thought, WHY stop there???

  62. Why not hook up a CD player (or tape player or even FM radio) to a transmitter,
  63. with the power to only go a few feet...
  64. The device will sit on the passenger's lap, and have enough power to
  65. transmit to the car stereo, sitting in the front of the car.

  67. We will trasmit, let's say on 1590 KHz, and then tune the car's stereo
  68. to 1590....

  70. As long as I keep this extremely low power, (battery operated I hope),
  71. does anyone know if the FCC would complain?
  72. What if I'm stopped in traffic and the car next to me can pick up
  73. my signal? Is That illegal?
